Do you wash sliced, packaged "prewashed" mushrooms?!

Question: Do you wash sliced, packaged "prewashed" mushrooms!?
Or does it affect the taste/texture!? I never buy mushrooms!. Nobody likes'em!. But we're having company and I wanted to use them!. I want to wash them, seems creepy not to!. What do you do!?

I bought the presliced kind because I dont know what to do with whole mushrooms!. Bringing me to my second question - do you potatopeel them if you buy them whole or just wash and slice them!?

Sincerely,

Answers:
No, I dont because I hate the texture once they get wet!. I think they are fine!. The plus side is uou wont be eating them!. lol, so dont worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes i wash them under cold water and wipe them with a paper towel before slicing them (i have never bought pre-sliced)!. here is a little recipe to use them as a condiment - goes great with steaks or other red meat, but i've used it with chicken and turkey!. it even goes well with mashed potatoes!.

slice mushrooms and put into a skillet with butter (as much as you like)!. sautee them for a few minutes until they start to become tender, then add 1-2 tablespoons of minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried parsley!. i usually have to taste several times during cooking to get it just right!. also works well with canned (drained) mushrooms!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

mushrooms are rarely peeled!. it is recommended that you wipe them with a damp cloth!. if you are eating them raw then i can see the need to do this!. but if cooking them i think the heat kills off anything bad!.

personally i dont wash or wipe!. maybe with my finger if i see large dirt spots!.

if you are talking about those white mushrooms in those blue styrofoam containers its okay to rinse them they arent too absorbant!. probably best to buy the whole kind, rinse then slice them!.

If you're leery of the packaged, pre-washed, sliced ones, just pick out some fresh ones and use a stiff brush to wash them under cold running water!.

You're not going to like this, but!.!.!.!.

Mushrooms are a good one to learn to like!. They're loaded with essential nutrients and are famous for helping build strong immune systems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I never buy pre sliced ones simply because I don't trust them to clean as thoroughly as I do!.I buy whole and wash them myself!. I wash under running water and use a mush brush!.Then I trim the bottom and proceed to slice normally!. some people use a slicer just for this purpose!.A common myth is that mushrooms soak up a lot of water during this process!. Alton Brown on the food network show "Good Eats" proved they absorb very little!.
Consider how they are grown and in what medium and you will want to wash thoroughly tooWww@FoodAQ@Com

Like a virgin, touched for the very first time!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

You don't potato peel them!. Just use your fingers, and peel the skin off, then take the stalk out!.

Then cut up, and wash them!.

Personally I like the *Magic* ones, so does Andrew!. Either them or stuffed ones!.
What time do you want me to arrive!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well i have never bought prewashed mushrooms but i have with salad etc and i always wash it again!.
With whole mushrooms i chop the bottom of the stalk thing off and peel the top bit!.
Good luck :)
