Will food stamps accept these?!

Question: Will food stamps accept these!?
Will food stamps accept chips and soda cans!?

Ok, I have block scheduling in my school which means four 89 minute long classes!. There is three blocks before lunch!. And only one of my teachers (my second block) lets us eat and drink in class!. And I don't have time to eat in the morning so I'm starving till lunch! I don't have money to buy chips and stuff during our 10 minute passing time!. (I have like a dollar sometimes but its 75 cents for a SMALL bag of chips) it's bull!.
I need like a little snack to hold me over till lunch!.

The reason I mentioned that about my school is so you wont think I want to waste all my moms food stamp money on junk food!.

Anyways I'm asking this because my mom bought me some doritos at Wal-mart and the food stamps card wouldn't accept it!. But it accepted it once!. And it also accepted little bottles of soda!.

Does it accept chips and soda and stuff like that!?
Why didn't it accept it that time!?

Its the EBT plastic one!.
And I live in S/W Florida, if that makes a differenceWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It should have accepted the Doritos as a covered item for food stamps, not sure why it didn't that time!. I would try it again and if it doesn't accept it a 2nd time you can talk to the management!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some states simply don't allow junk food and soda to be purchased with food stamps whether they be paper or EBT!. This assistance is give to help provide a family with healthy and nutritious food!. Sorry dorritos and soda don't qualify as nutritional!. Try getting some granola or cereal bars as an alternative!. Those should be covered!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It "should" accept it for any "uncooked" food products!. That includes chips and sodas, the only reasons I can think of that it wouldn't be accepted is if there were insuffecient funds on the card, OR there was a glitch in the system somehow!.!.!.!.!. contact the customer service hotline for the EBT card and talk to them and they should be able to answer any questions or concerns you have!

God Bless!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know this is going in a totally different way, but, how bout you getting raisins, some nuts you like, maybe some M&M's and make a mix of it and take that to school!. I swear baby carrots are good with some ranch dip!. These things you can get on stamps!. Fruit can save the day sometimes!. Apples and oranges are easy to eat and carry!. Chips really do nothing for you!. I hope this helps!. Good luck on you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I disagree with the first answer those are considered "Luxury Items" and I don't think they are supposed to be used for that any more than for beer

edit: Mahler, I couldn't have said it better myselfWww@FoodAQ@Com

In NC the only food you can't purchase is hot deli food!. Chips and soda can be purchased with EBTWww@FoodAQ@Com

Of course!. Anything that is a food item can be brought on an EBT card!. EXCEPT for HOT FOOD, meaning like if the grocery has a diner and you can make a plate on the buffet, that's not excepted!. Sometimes the strip gets dirty and you may have to wipe it off to work!. Sometimes the EBT machine acts up!. Now some people on here are confusing WIC with food stamps!. WIC tells you what to get and which is health wise because it for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers!. You can purchase anything that's a food item, even seasoning!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This may be straying a little from your question but you might want to suggest to your Mom a program called Angel Food Ministries where she can buy boxes of food for about half the price of grocery stores!. There are no forms to fill out, you don't need to qualify and best of all, they take food stamps!. By doing that you may have enough leftover food stamps to be able to buy the ingredients to make cookies or maybe some muffins!. You'll find the link to their website below!. I hope that helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
