Goya Rice expired in 2003 - is it safe to eat ?!

Question: Goya Rice expired in 2003 - is it safe to eat !?
I'm think it will be ok, considering the fact that it's packaged twice!.

( a box, then when opening the box - it's wrapped inside air tight paper bag )

What do you think !?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I there have been "no mice in the rice" evidence of such will be little black things which look like grains of rice, then sure it will be fine!.
Seriously if what you are speaking of is either hard dry rice, or a precooked rice which has never been openened it should be fine!.
If it is precooked then if it is off it will smell and taste awfull!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with many of the other people, I am a former chef and the double sealed package and no indications of vermin or bugs is an indication it is still o!.k, the only thing is if it was a seasoned mix with chicken or beef flavour in it the fats or or oils used to make the seasoning mix could have gone rancid, open the package and give it a good smell, if there is a whiff of mold or sourish almost a blue cheese like aroma, it may be past it time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not so sure about that!. There have been situations - recently reported - of some boxed cake and muffin mixes that had some terrible side effects when someone used a past due product!. I am not one to throw things away, but in this situation, I would pitch it!. FYI - I opened a bag of Tostitos that were past due, like by 8 months!. I grabbed one and about lost it - it tasted like plastic!. This is why I say throw it out:-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most dried foods keep for years despite what the food label says!.

They found chocolate in one of the pyramids which was still edible some 2000 years later!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sure, try it -- check for little bugs and go for it!.

But, I sure wouldn't eat it!. That is over 5 years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I would not eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would not eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
