Answers:
Don't let them get too dark or too soft!. They should be just slightly soft to the touch!. That's for the little Haas type!. The larger ones, I think the pit is suposed to rattle inside!. But I don't like those cause they're not as tasty, so I always buy the little ones!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It should be slightly soft when you press it with your fingers!. Not hard, but not too soft either!. also, if it has black spots on it, those are the spots that have gone bad on the inside!. One or two spots are ok, it just means it's really ripe!.
There are tons of different types!. It depends on your taste!. i forget the names, but the really big ones with smooth skin have a lighter taste, I find, than the others!. I personally like the small, dark green ones with the ridgy skin (Haas, I think, like some people have mentioned)!.

also, when cutting it open, it helps to do this: Cut it lengthwise with a sharp knife!. then to get the pip out, whack it with the knife so that the blade sticks into it firmly, then twist the knife left-and-right gently!. The pip should easily pull out when you lift the knife!.

Try sprinkling a tad of salt and top off with lime juice!. Mmm, delicious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hass for me are the best!. They are richer and less watery!. If I'm making guacamole then I get them slightly soft!. If I'm using then in a salad then I get them firm!. Don't get them to mushy or soft!. To get the seed out easily cut the avocado in half and then whack the seed in the middle slightly twist knife and the seed will pop out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

always go for hass avocadoes!. and when picking them, make sure they are slightly dark and slightly soft!. if you put some pressure on the skin with your thumb, then you will!. lnow its ready its slightly soft!. if you buy them while they are still not ripe, put them in a paper bag with a banana and they will be good the next dayWww@FoodAQ@Com

They should be dark in color, plump and slightly soft!. When u squeeze it, it should give just a little!. Some avacados are too ripe and the "meat" shrinks inside!. Overripe avacado's are squishy and ur fingerprint goes in too much!. It's actually quite easy picking out the right avacado once u know what to look for!. When in doubt, as ur produce guy and he'll help pick one out!.
After u cut one open, score it both ways (horizontal and vertically and then spoon out the chuncks!. Squeeze lemon/lime juice over it to prevent oxidization (browning) and store it by covering it airtight with seran wrap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hmm!. I like Hass Avocados!. You pick them up and give them a squeeze!. If they are soft but not mushy - good avocado!. also, after you cut into the avocado with a knife it's easiest to get the fruit out with a spoon!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

if youre going to eat it right away, buy ones that are soft, but not mushy!.
if youre not going to eat it right away, choose ones that are firmer, so that they'll ripen in a couple of days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Get the firm ones and leave them to ripen in your fridge!.
When they are slightly soft , chop in half, take the pip out and eat!.

With a little lemon is good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They should be squishy!.!.!. sorta like a ripe banana!.
However if they are not ripe, but them in a brown paper bag with a banana overnight in the bottom of your fridge and by morning they will be perfect!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

The moment the outside turns from granite hard to gives the smallest amount!. Then is time to knife into it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It all comes down to experience!. How often has the avocado been right in the past!? Does it research its answers, or just BS!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

When it is tender to the touchWww@FoodAQ@Com
