Is vanilla extract and vanilla flavoring the same thing?!
Answers:
Sortof!. Vanilla extract might refer to natural vanilla from vanilla beans, while vanilla flavouring might refer more to the artificial chemical!.
But both could be used for either, so you can't really say!. The words are interchangable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vanilla extract is the extract of real vanilla beans!. Vanilla flavoring is artificial flavoring!. I have used both and there is a taste difference!. Think about cheap nonpremium vanilla ice cream vs premium vanilla ice cream with real vanilla beans (like Breyers)!. There is a taste difference!. Vanilla extract also costs more than vanilla flavoring!. Yes, they can be used interchangeably!. Myself, I prefer the extract!. The initial cost for the extract may be more, but you tend to use very little per recipe so the bottle lasts a long time!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vanilla extract is made by putting vanilla beans into alcohol until it pulls out all of their flavor!. Vanilla flavoring is made artificially!. A lot of times they use tree bark because it contains vanillan which is just one of the flavors found in vanilla beans!. I think that vanilla extract has a much more complex flavor profile!. I always use it for pastries that are purely vanilla flavored like pastry cream or vanilla cake!. However, it is much more expensive!. If I'm making something that just calls for a little vanilla like chocolate chip cookies or blueberry muffins, I usually use the cheaper stuff and can't tell any difference in flavorWww@FoodAQ@Com
Not really, but you can use them interchangeably!. The extract is pure vanilla and the flavoring is imitation vanilla!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
