Question: What are some good onigiri fillings, no fish roe or bonito!?

Answers:
For a "user friendly" palate, I think you could safely get away with:

-a preserved plum (ume!?)
-a small pc!. of cooked salmon
-some pickled ginger
-preserved pickled radish

Experimental:
-Pickled or marinated (tamari & rice wine) cucumber pcs!.
-Minced teriyaki chicken pcs!.
