I love the Taste of Home Magazine!. It has wonderful recipes from all over the country, little stories about some of them and every year you are offered a Taste of Home cookbook that has the recipes in it!.

Whenever I make a recipe that I have taken from that magazine, everybody raves!. They are also very simple!.

The desserts are especially good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly, my favourite cookbooks are more textbook-layout than cookbook!.

They are The Culinary Institute of America's The Professional Chef Version 7, and The Culinary Institute of America's Baking and Pastry: Mastering the Art and Craft!.

I love them!. I got both of them for my birthday this past year and I use them so much!. One drawback is that they have it in restaurant-size quantities, but it's not that hard to scale down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mrs Beeton's book of cookery and household management!.

This book has the answers to everything from weights & measures, recipies, tempetures and all household questions!.
A real god send when faced with a tricky question such as what is the tradional gift on a 3rd anniversary!? Great, as granny used to make, recipies for treats such as scones!.

The best all rounder book for recipies and everything else you could need to know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love my America's Test Kitchen Cookbook!.
They test various methods before deciding on a recipe, giving you reasons why they did this or that (Much like Alton Brown on Good Eats!.) An example being with their meatball recipe, they use fresh white bread with no crust soaked in buttermilk and then mushed up into a paste!. I had never heard of that before and I was amazed at how it changed the texture and flavor of my already good meatballs, making them with the ATK book recipe made them awesome!
My only complaint is that it doesnt have nutrional values for each recipe!. But I love love love that book!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do like the "church" type cookbooks where members of the church or club send in their recipes (but am always amazed when green bean casserole is in there, everyone knows how to make that), but as far a store bought cookbook, I like my Betty Crocker from 1978!. I don't care for the new Betty crocker!. Mine (and my mom's from probably the 50's) has just your basic stuff!. Love it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

In New Zealand we have the "Edmond's Cookery Book!.
1st Edition 1955 and republished almost yearly and re edited from time to time!.
I have two standard editions 1986 and 1980, and a Microwave edition that I can't find, so I don't know the year!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
