Oven element issues...please help!!?!
Ok, last night I was preparing dinner and preheating the oven!. All of a sudden it looked like there was a sparkler inside on the bottom element!. Then slowly, after it was finished sparking, that element turned off!. I noticed that my broiler element on top still works though, is it possible to still use my oven until I can replace the burned out element!? for example, Im making chicken tonight, and though Im starting by browning it on the stove, but I need to finish it off in the oven for about 15 mins!. Well, your lower element burned out!. That's the one that's energized for baking!. The top element is for broiling!. So, you can easily brown things using the broiler element!.
One thing to consider is that the broiler is not controlled by the thermostat!. It's either always on full or always off!. When I use a broiler to brown things or to melt cheese, I monitor what I'm cooking and, if it seems like there's too intense of heat and it might burn the food, I turn the broiler off for a minute or so and then turn it back on as necessary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This happened to me once too!. You can't use it with just a top element, that's just a broiler, essentially!. Some ovens have pull out elements and maybe you could take out the top element and put it in the bottom temporarily!. Basically, you need a new element!. Much cheaper than a new oven!. If you know your model number etc!. you might want to try a website for appliance parts!. You could probably get it in time for Thanksgiving!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Something may have been touching the element and causing the sparks!. Check that the fuse did not blow and ensure the element is clean!. if the fuse blew, replace the fuse and see if it works!. If the element is broken, obviously replace it!. You could use the other functions of the oven, but the food is more apt to burn, so keep an eye on it!.

You need to get someone in to fix that thing!. It's a fire hazard, first of all, and Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK!.
Don't fart around trying to make do, just cook something stir-fry on the stove top tonight, and RIGHT NOW CALL and make an appointment to get that element replaced and the stove checked out!.
You've got chicken on the menu!? Go for a skillet meal!. See link!.
Good luck!. Same thing happened to me!. Pain in the butt!.!.!.

The lower element in the oven just pulls out of the fittings!. Pull it out, take it to an appliance store, and tell them you need a new one!. You take the new one home and plug it in!. It's just that simple!. I've had to do that a couple of times!.!.!.!.(in the 46 years I've been cooking!.) Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes there's no problem!. The other element will work and the burned one will stay burned but no danger at all except for the chicken having a rough uneven cooking!. Replacing elements is cheap!. You can do it for about 30 dollars!. It's simple!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sounds like you have a major issue!. Don't use the oven until you've had it repaired/replaced lest you burn your house down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
NO!!!! DO NOT USE YOUR OVEN 'til you get it fixed

Sometimes it can be cheaper and easier just to buy a new oven!. That was what we did!. Depends how old it is though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
