First time baking Turkey! Need Help!!?!

Question: First time baking Turkey! Need Help!!!?
I'm baking my first Turkey this year!. It's 15 1/2 lbs!. I know as much as to thaw it a few days in advance, but am not sure how I should season it!?
Stuffing it with orange or lemon sounded good, but I'm interested in learning any family secret recipes!. My mom passed away 7 yrs ago when I was 17 and I never had the chance in getting any family recipes handed down to me!.
I'm also looking for any ideas on what I could take to my b/f's Family Thanksgiving!. Last year I made 3 pumpkin pies!. I want to make something different this year but one that is also budget-friendly!. Thanks for all ur help :) Happy Turkey Day to all!! Www@FoodAQ@Com

My Stuffing recipe:

1 blue bag of pepperidge farm stuffing mix
2 boxes of maple flavor breafast sausage (fully cooked version)defrosted and chopped fine
1 onion chopped
3 ribs of sliced celery
1 15 oz can of chicken broth
1 stick of melted butter
1 beaten egg

Combine and stuff the bird, you can cook any extra in the oven at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes covered!.

I was in the kitchen with the grandmothers and aunts and mom from the time I could read and follow recipes!. My grandmother passed when I was 17 so most of her recipes I didn't get in my head, but do have some!.

I get a call from one of my daughters or daughter in law every year saying, "Mom, How do I cook !. !. !.!"

Thaw and rub the salt into your bird, rub in some sage too!. Put it on a rack in the roasting pan!. Read the baking instructions on the tag!. It will have some good suggestions as well as how long to cook per pound!.

Not all ot those sites are Holiday recipes, but you might keep some of them handy as they have some really good stuff in them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here is the only turkey recipe you will ever need!. Easy, and you can change it by adding different spices if you should desire!.

Don't be intimidated!. It may look complicated, but Alton Brown is the best teacher you could wish for!. Brining the turkey as he suggests (submerging it the night before in ice water seasoned with vegetables, stock, and spices) will make your turkey really moist and flavourful!. I followed this recipe last year for the first Thanksgiving I made on my own for my husband and it turned out beautifully!.

also have a look at the "Videos" link on that page to see his two videos on how to properly cook it!. The only thing I do different is to cut up pieces of butter and tuck them under the skin against the meat before cooking!.

As far as taking something to your boyfriend's family, what about banana bread!? It's cheap, easy to make, (one batch usually makes three or so loaves) and is really delicious -- and fairly healthy, too!. You could add nuts or chocolate chips if you wanted!. http://www!.foodnetwork!.com/recipes/emeri!.!.!. This is the recipe I recommend you start with if you've never made it before!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is a good site for turkey recipes

In my turkey recipe I put a quartered tart apple, onion, and celery in the cavity!. I rub the outside with bacon!. It always get compliments and I tend to be the one asked to do the turkey

This year I'm thinking of doing an herb turkey but I'll see what my family wants!.

Have fun! Cooking the turkey is a lot of fun! With a good recipe you'll have no problems

(I don't recommend the recipes that you cook the turkey upside down!. Some people do this for flavor and moisture but I can't tell the difference!. It is usually very hard to turn over the turkey breast side up!. I prefer to show off mine so I don't like those recipes)Www@FoodAQ@Com
