I add Powdered sugar and Vanilla extract to my homemade whipped cream!.
The cornstarch in the powdered sugar stiffens the cream to "stand alone" and the powdered sugar is fine enough to keep the cream from feeling "grainy"!.
Some cooks use a tiny bit of unflavoured gelatin to help the cream hold it's shape for a longer period!. But I don't like the taste it imparts to the cream!. I use 1 Tablespoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons Vanilla per cup of "Heavy Whipping Cream"
When I can find it!.!.!. I prefer to use "Extra Heavy Cream" since it contains more solids and whips up thicker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is so wonderful, delicious and fresh that only in an emergency, that you will buy store prepared whipped cream again!. Start with a metal bowl filled with ice, then put another smaller metal bowl on top of it!. Use a whisk that has thinner hoops and lighter to handle, that will help you to incorporate more air into your whipped cream!. Pour your heavy whipping cream into the top metal bowl and add some vanilla extract and Cinnamon Powder!. This might take some muscle and time, but continue to whisk this until your heavy cream becomes whispy, (a little lighter and fluffier) then start adding your powdered sugar (confectioners sugar, 10X sugar), continue to whisk over the ice bowl until you've reached the thickness of your whipped cream!. If you are not using this right away, store at a very cold temperature, but be careful not to over whip it!. So, I hope this helps you out today!. I've made many a batches of fresh whipped cream and it's not as easy as it sounds, but worth it's weight in taste every time! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Those are all great answers!. I just wanted to tell you about a time when I was exec chef at a place in nor cal!. I was making whipped cream using manufacturing cream(really heavy cream)and dumped 2 gallons into the Hobart Mixer!. (heavy duty pro mixer) any way I hadn't added sugar or vanilla yet and turned on the machine, went away to do something else and forgot about the cream!. about a half hour or so later I flew back to the mixer and it was full of butter!! I had let it mix too long and churned a big bowl of butter! I ended up using the "butter" for service but never forgot the incident!. The moral of the story is "don't forget the mixer!!" hope this helps, chef paulWww@FoodAQ@Com
Take heavy whipping cream and whip until peaks begin to form - some people like to add a little sugar to the cream!. You can use an electric mixer, a hand mixer, or a whisk - whichever you prefer!. Be careful not to over whip, or you will have butter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
8 ounces of heavy cream, 2 ounces of powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla!.
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix with a whisk until you get the "whipped cream" texture!.
You can also use a Kitchenaid mixer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
