Are rolled oats the same as quick cooking (1-minute) oats?!
I found a cake recipe that calls for 1-1/2 c!. of rolled oats!. Can I use the quick 1 minute kind, or should I buy the traditional Quaker oats!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
no rolled oats are in their natural form, where as the quick oats have had the husk removed to allow for faster cooking!.
For many recipes they are inter changeable, but i suggest you but the traditional oats for baking as it's about texture&stability with a cakeWww@FoodAQ@Com

If the recipe calls for rolled, oats, use rolled-- the quick cook ones are more processed (the hulls have been removed) so that they cook more quickly!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Depends on how "oaty" you want your cake!. The rolled oats will be more hearty!.
Try to figure out the ratio of mass/volume from the label at the store, to adjust your recipe!.

the instant ones are ground finer so you may want to use 1/4 cup less!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
