Can anyone tell me if it okay to freeze cream cheese?!


Question: Can anyone tell me if it okay to freeze cream cheese!?
Usually during the holidays, I will buy them when they are on sale!.!.!. I wanted to make sure if I freeze them, and later defrost, will they taste the same!? Thanks for your help!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, they do fine!. In fact, I have a recipe that calls for shredded cream cheese (you freeze it to shred it on a box grater) and that is sprinkled over the top of cranberry gelatin salad!. SO pretty and SO good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, if you plan to use it as a spread!. The freezing and thawing will alter the consistency of the cheese!. It's probably OK if you're going to use it in cooking or baking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, i freeze cream cheese blocks when they are on sale!. But only use them for baking!. Cause after they thaw, the consistency is not quite as spreadable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
