Adding nuts to cake recipes - How do you get them to keep from settling to bottom of cake.?!

Question: Adding nuts to cake recipes - How do you get them to keep from settling to bottom of cake!.!?
I like to take a cake mix and make two loaf cakes out of it!. I especially like Duncan Hines Spice Cake mix!. After beating the mix with the eggs, oil, water, etc, I then add a bunch of chopped nuts to the mixture and then pour the batter into the loaf pans!. Every time, the nuts are all settled on the bottom 1/2" of the cake and are not in the middle or top!. Is there a trick to avoid this so that the nuts are throughout the cake slice and not just at the bottom!. Thanks!. (P!.S!. that goes for raisin's too)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
my experience is to place cake batter in the pan and right before baking it add your nuts or raisens right to the top of the cake!.

run a spatula over the top and lightly smooth them into your cake batter!.

as it cooks they tend to settle pretty evenly!.

that of course is for when you want them mixed into your batter!. if you want them as a layer on the bottom or top, then place them appropriately as you pan up your ingrediants!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

put the nuts (or raisins) in a ziplock bag and add a couple of teaspoons of flour, then shake well!. the flour will coat the nuts (or raisins) and keep them from sinking!. Fold them gently into the batter last, just before pouring into the pans!. They won't sink!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pour the mix in the pans then add the nuts they will move as the cake cooks!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lightly coat the nuts or raisins with flour then gently stir them into the cake mixture!. Hope that helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Very simple, just invert your cake before serving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
