Answers:
Maple-Roasted Turkey with Sage Butter

* 1 sticks unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
* 1/4 bunch fresh sage, finely chopped
* Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
* 1 (12 to 14-pound) fresh turkey, giblets, neck, and liver discarded
* 8 strips bacon
* 1/2 cup maple syrup
* 2 tablespoons hot water

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and remove the top rack of the oven!.

Put the butter and sage in a mixing bowl and mash with a fork or spoon until the sage is well incorporated!. Season with salt and pepper!.

Rinse the bird thoroughly inside and out with cold water, and pat dry with paper towels!. Sprinkle the cavity and skin liberally with salt and pepper!. Using your fingers, gently lift the skin from the turkey breast and slip the remaining seasoned butter under, massaging the breast meat as you go!. Truss the bird by crossing the legs over one another and tying with a piece of kitchen twine!. Shingle the bacon strips over the breast so it's totally covered!. Put the turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan, cover the turkey with aluminium foil, and place in the oven!.

In a small bowl, stir the maple syrup with 2 tablespoons of hot water to thin!. Roast the turkey for 2 hours, basting with the maple glaze every 30 minutes!. Continue cooking until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the meaty part of the thigh registers 170 degrees F!. The thigh juices will run clear when pricked with a knife, about 3 hours total (15 minutes per pound)!. About 1/2 hour before you think the turkey is done, remove the foil so that it can brown!. When done take the turkey out of the oven and put the roasting pan on the stovetop!. Transfer the turkey to a serving tray to rest at least 20 minutes before carving!. Serve with Turkey Gravy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd stick to the classics:

roasted turkey
turkey gravy
mashed potatoes
dressing
cranberry sauce
carrots
peas

1st thing a 16 lb turkey for 12 sounds way small to me!. I would usually get a 20lb one for that many!. When preparing the bird run your hands up under the skin, free the skin all over the top of the bird!. Breast and legs!. Mix butter with fresh herbs like sage, tyme, Italian parsley!. Push the mixture up under the skin, all over breasts, legs, thighs!. I use one cube butter with the herbs!. Then slice a lemon very thin and lay that in rings under the skin as well!. Then I have used a guaranteed method of getting the perfect bird for 20 yrs!. Take a brown grocerey bag with any printing face down!. Slide bird into bag tie shut if possible but if bird is to big slide another bag over the other end, then bird is completly enclosed!. Oil out side of bag so it doesn't get crispy!.
Cook as normal, but probably be done 30 mins early!. It will be moist, perfectly, browned, and great taste!. The gravy will be full of flavor!. Sometimes gravy volume doesn't equal crowd need, to increase volume with white wine (nothing sweet) chard, Sav Blanc, etc!. It increases volume while still having a great flavor!.
Sides garlic mashed potatoes, cranberries sause with red port wine, cornbread sausage stuffing, sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmellows!. These recipes are all available at Allrecipes!.com When you check this out pick recipes by number of good reviews that have 41/2 to 5 stars!. If 1 recipe has 5 reviews and 1 has 85 go with the big one!. This makes everything so easy for you!. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm gonna give you a recipe for the turkey and a pasta dish for the kids as well!. the pasta dish would be very easy!.
Lazy Lasagna
I always add grated carrots to this because that's what my kids ate, but your can try a different vegetable!. Chopped red bell pepper, for instance!.

Recipe
Serves 4

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup minced onion
2 carrots, grated
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (14-ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli, unthawed
1 (14-ounce) jar marinara sauce
1/2 pound sliced provolone
1/2 cup grated Parmesan

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees!.

Heat the oil in an ovenproof 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, then sauté the onion, carrots, garlic, and herbs until the onion is translucent, about 3 minutes!. Transfer the onion mix to a bowl!. Now arrange the still-frozen ravioli (breaking them apart if they're clumped) in one layer in the skillet and sprinkle with the onion mix!. Ladle the marinara sauce evenly over the ravioli!. Over medium heat, without stirring, cook everything until the ravioli are heated through and beginning to brown on the bottom (gently lift one with a fork to check), about 10 minutes!.

Remove the skillet from the heat, then arrange the provolone slices over the sauce and sprinkle the whole thing with Parmesan!. Bake the lasagna in the middle of the oven until the cheese is melted, about 10 minutes!.
Bring on the cheese — it's an amazing source of calcium, which kids' bodies need for the growth and repair of bones and teeth!.
