I'm making an angel food cake, a loaf kind, and I'm out of parchment!. It's too cold and raining to go to the store!. I have wax paper, can I use that!? Do I have to grease it!? also, can you freeze leftover batter!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Yes you can use wax paper and no you cannot freeze angel food batter!.
Here is proof - because of the thumbs down!. My mom always used this for cakes!.
it can be used in some baking as long as the batter completely covers the wax paperWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would not suggest using wax paper at all!. Once it goes in the oven, the wax will melt and coat your cake!. So unless you particularly fancy the taste of wax, I'd stay away from it!.
I'd probably just use some foil, but allow some excess to stick over the pan so you can use it as handles when the cake is cooled and ready to come out!.
Yes, you'll have to grease the foil!. If you don't, the cake will just stick to that, which would then make it kind of pointless for having used it in the first place!.
As for freezing the leftover batter, I wouldn't suggest it!. As your batter sits it can loose the air you built up in the batter!. And in freezing, you'll also get large ice crystals throughout, so when you thaw it, it would become rather soupy, I believe!.
You could always eat it!.!.!. I would!. :]Www@FoodAQ@Com

You really do not need anything in your pan besides the cake!. Do NOT grease it!.!.!.even with waxed paper or parchment because the grease counteracts with the air you whipped into the egg whites and causes the cake to deflate!. And no, as people before me have said, you cannot freeze the leftover batter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I wouldn't use wax paper as a substitute for baking parchment!. In a pinch you can use copy paper (or computer paper from your pc printer)!. It should be large enough for an angel food cake pan!. As for greasing it, the recipe probably calls for the parchment to be greased, right!? If so, then yes!.!.!.grease the copy paper!.
And for the cake batter, no!.!.!.!.don't freeze it!. It just doesn't hold up well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can use wax paper it is the next best thing and no you don't have to grease it!. No, you can't freeze left over batter!. It has certain ingredients that won't allow you to freeze it and be able it to use it at a latter date!. Sorry!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Use wax paper as a substitute and do not freeze batter!. better to put it in a bowl and use plastic wrap - eliminate any air and refrigerate it for a few days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would not try to use wax paper!. I would probably use the instructions for greasing your pan!. When wax gets hot it melts and would get all over your food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Try using a brown paper grocery bag!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
