Question: How do I know my Turkey is fully cooked!? it's my first time, very scared Plz HELP!.!. thanks and happy holidays !?
Answers:
Ariel if you have cooked it for 20 minutes at 180 deg per pound, and not opened the oven every five minutes unless to baste, you should be just about there!. Your turkey should have a golden brown color to the skin!. Use a wooden skewer or tooth pick in the thick part of the turkey like the thigh and also the breast, if it comes out clean your there!. Remember when you bring the turkey out of the oven to stand it continues to cook with the residual heat!.

There are several ways to determine if the turkey is cooked through!. For safety and doneness the internal temperature, as registered on a meat thermometer, must reach a minimum of 180 degrees F!. in the thigh!. The center of the stuffing should reach 165 degrees F in the cavity, and the center of the breast is done at 170 degrees!. You can also prick the leg joint with a fork, and if the juices run just slightly pink or clear, the turkey is done!.

if you have a meat thermometer, stick it in between the leg and thigh of the bird and it should read 175 or 180 F!. If you don't have one, the birds usually have a pop up!. This often might be misleading so you'll need to cut into it to find any red parts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The tried and trusted method is to put a knife or skewer in to it as far as you can(into the breast)!. When you remove the knife/skewer, the juice that runs out should be clear, not bloody!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only way to be for sure for sure is to use an Instant read thermometer (avail!. at the grocery store)!. It should read 170 degrees when stuck deep into the thigh (without touching the bone)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
