Mashed Potato Tips:

1!. Don't over boil the potatos the way to tell when they are done is just when a fork can be poked all the way thru a potato with out any force!.
2!. Drain well or you will have a thin watery mashed potato!.
3!. When you emtpy your potatos back into the bowl to mash, weather you hand mash or use a mixer just mash the potatos and seasonings without the butter and milk first!. Then when you get the consistentcy you want add some milk and butter and stir/fols it in!. Potatos can sometimes get a glue like consistentcy due to the starch, mixing them "dry" frist helps to prevent that!.

Seasoning ideas!.

I like to use white pepper in my potatos, but don't use as much it's very strong!.

I also like garlic powder/salt, onion powder/salt, and celery salt!.

If they taste a little bland add a dash or two more salt, the salt helps to bring out the buttery, creamy-ness of the potatos!.

Cream is good in mashed, and I also like to use condensed milk, it has a nice consistncy with out being to overboard and is realtvly cheap!.

You can also add cream cheese, ricota cheese, sour cream, and I haven't trie d fets yet but now I want to!. Buttermilk is good too!.

If you have left over potatos look up a recipe for potato cakes and make them for breakfast!. I eould give you one but I am having a brain fart now!.

Good luck and enjoy!.

Cut potatoes into about 2 inch piece (either peel first or leave skin on if you like that)!. Boil until just tender, about 20 minutes!. You can tell by sticking with a knife, there should be give, but the shouldn't fall apart!.

Drain and add butter, milk or cream and salt to taste!.

I can't give your exact amounts because I don't know how many you're cooking for!. But add the milk or cream slowly so you don't make them watery!.

If that doesn't work you can also get Ore-Ida Steam n’ Mash Pre-Cut Russet Potatoes and just add the butter, milk and salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just to add a little to what the others have said!.!.!. be sure to use russets, I have found out the hard way that new potatoes or reds are too starchy for good mashed potatoes!. Cut the potatoes in large pieces so the will not cook too quickly/over cook!. And like they say, never add a drop of anything to the potatoes until you have mashed them!.
If you are taking them to a dinner and have to drive it is best to let them cool off, no longer steaming, before you cover them!. Root veggies will have a stale taste if the steam is not allowed to escape!.

boil some water in a big pot that is enough to cover the amount of potatoes you`ll be boiling!. do NOT add salt!. put in the potatoes only when the water starts to boil!. if not, you`ll end up over-boiling it!. boil it for 20-30 mins or until the skewer pricks smoothly into the potato when you test it!. drain the water!. quickly mashed it while it`s hot using pestle and mortar if available!. mashed it fast and strong!. again while it`s still hot, add fresh milk, cheddar cheese, salt, all these depending on how cheesy, milky, salty you want it to be!. add more milk for lighter consistency!. it`s best served while it`s hot!. it`s yummy!. trust me!. this is my mashed potato topping on shepherd`s pie!. my family loves it!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

peel potatoes, cube potatoes(cut up in pieces, size does not matter) as you are peeling potatoes, keep in cold water!. Once finished peeling and cutting up potatoes, rinse a few times!. Put kettle on fire and let boil!. when the potatoe nearly breaks in half when poked with fork, drain potatoes!. while potatoes are draining, drop butter in kettle to start melting (leave fire off for this)!. put potatoes back in kettle and add start to beat/blend!. slowly add milk until potatoes are at consistency you want!. They turm out great everytime!!! Sometimes I add cheese while I am blending!.!.!. YUMMY!.!. Especially for on top of meatloaf!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Mash them using your head like a masher!. Creates tasty texture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

smash it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
