Try looking up French pastries or Italian pastries!. Many times they make a sweet cake and then lay the fresh fruit on top for a fresh fruit tart!. Or try baking the peeled and cored fruit with a little water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of natural honey in a glass bowl, then letting it cool and eat plain as is, or blend in the blender and freeze slightly for a fruit glace and eliminate the sweet cake altogether!.
I have food allergies to wheat and dairy, so I had to give up baked desserts, cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, cheesecake, etc!. I have been discovering different flavors like baked pears which are plenty sweet without added sugars!. I eat much more vegetables and get plenty of sugars from them each day!.
You might want to seriously look into cookbooks for diabetics and high blood pressure patients!. There are dozens out there!. I did a search on Barnes and Noble!.com and found more than ten pages of suggestions, so here's the link:

good luck in changing over to a new life!. It's hard to give up the old one when others around you won't, but It's better to try to seek good health than keep lying to yourself that you can still enjoy your old life and live!. What I mean is - I had to give up things like chocolate cake at every niece or nephew's birthday party, mashed potatoes with milk and butter at every relative's holiday dinner, red meats, no more hamburgers on buns or pizza, in fact, I had to quit eating at most of my family gatherings because I have allergies to almost everything they serve! But I have lost weight, I have learned how to cook vegetables better, I have learned to eat more rice, I have even learned how to eat sushi!. I am still not 100% better, but I am getting there!. I have to learn that I can't eat the way as I did growing up with my family - I can't go back to eating heavy, rich dinners at night, I can't sneak just a piece of cake without paying the price!. I have to realize that way of eating is over once and for all, and seek out new ways of eating and enjoying food that won't kill me!. So I have been finding out and learning how to cook Mediterranean, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and Mexican foods using more vegetables and rice!. I have been enjoying the same foods eating out at more ethnic restaurants and giving up the fast-food places!. (I mean, how boring is it to only be able to order a green salad at McDonald's, Burger King, and Carl's Jr!? At least Carl's Jr has a baked potato on their menu!)
Try looking up vegetarian cookbooks, too!. And did you know you can always cut down the salt and sugars to 1/2 teaspoons in any recipe!?
It's possible to find what you are looking for out there!. Try the link for a good start!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have to agree with CMC on the sugar, just reducing the amount will help greatly!. I fond most recipes have about double the sugar they really need, unless of course you NEED that sugar fix on occasion!.
As fo the salt!. I for years omitted the salt from my baking, but have recently started using it again!. The salt makes a difference in the taste, but I'm not sure what it is!. But it is okay to leave it out!.

I have found that leaving out the salt in bread is not such a great idea though, you can really taste a difference without it!.

Hi Phillip, I find that you can delete the salt!. There is one problem out of the way!. As for sugar!. I find a lot of recipe's call for vast amounts of sugar unnecessarily!. Reduce the requirement by half, and I have also found to reduce the Cinnamon a little, you want to taste the apples not the sugar and such!. I use Granny Smith Apples!.
