Baking jacket potato? ..........?!

Question: Baking jacket potato!? !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!?
How do you bake jacket potatoes!? I'd rather do it the oven all the way as to hold the most nutrients, rather than microwave them out!.

My oven is set to degree celcius, and it is not a fan oven!.

Thanks =] Www@FoodAQ@Com

A spud about the size of your fist will take about an hour at around 180 degrees!. You can smell when they are done! Turn over about half way though - and serve with proper butter - delice!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You will not loose any nutrients by microwaving but they do come out more tasty if you bake them in the oven (and eat the crunchy skin; the most nutritious bit)!.
I get a large, floury pot!., clean it, rub with olive oil (not virgin), then rub with salt, ram a skewer through it to transmit heat to the inside and put it in the middle to upper part of the oven set to 180 dg C for about an hour!.

PS anyone know how to find the "degree" symbol on the keyboard!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

at work we bake potatoes in the oven:
scrub and dry potato
rub with softened butter
sprinkle lightly with course salt
wrap in foil
bake at 300-350 degrees for 1 hour
check doneness
unwrap
cut potato in half and squeeze ends of potato so the middle expands
top with more butter
(can use any topping you want, cheese, chili, chives, refried beans, ranch dressing-this is so good, chopped bacon!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.)

but at home, i microwave for 6 to 8 minutes!. i'm usually so tired from cooking food all day i don't want to cook all night at home!.

nutrients are not lost with either method!. the only consideration is time and calories depending on what topping you use!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

mmm i love baked potato, wash the potato, dry it, smother it with butter and salt and pepper all over, make a little cross in the ends of the spud, stick into oven, (about 180-200) leave it for about 1hour 30 turn once !.!.!. and you should have a perfectly cooked jacket spud with crispy tasty skin, fill with whatever you fancy!!!! mmmmmWww@FoodAQ@Com

I will wash, dry & grease my potatoes!. Then just throw them into the oven & bake!. What temp!? Depends on what else I'm cooking in there!. could be anywhere from 350F -400F!. I never cook just one thing in the oven!. That would be too much wasted space & energy!. If I am doing a meatloaf or even a cake, I'll throw in potatoes , cookies or whatever else will fit!. To grease the potatoes, I wipe them over with the butter wrapper or even get a bit of extra butter on it first!. This gives a nice, thicker skin that is also a bit crisper but not hard!. Serve with whatever toppings you want & enjoy!.!.!.Yummy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i put the oven on 200c and blast them!. about 10 minutes in, i add some salt and honey over the top (whizz the honey up with some oil just to slacken it) drizzle it over and continue cooking until you can stick a knife with ease all the way through and encounter no hard uncooked potatoWww@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on size of potato, normal size supermarkets sell in pack of 4 - 180 degrees for 1 hour 15 or until soft when stabbed into centre with a knife!.
Stab with a fork before cooking to prevent them exploding!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

bake on high in microwave for 10Min's then finish of in oven skin comes out all crispy and middle soft Www@FoodAQ@Com

Rub with oil sprinkle with salt and bake at 180c for about an hour and a half!. Fill to your own taste!.Yummy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
