Does anyone know how to make boiled peanuts?!
My future mother in law told me just to put some salt in them and boil them!. I was wondering is that going to be enough flavor or will it need more!? And how long do they need to boil!?

Hi there, I love boiled peanuts!. I learned how to make these when I lived in Florida!. Your future mother in law is right!. Here are the details!.
Basically, you leave the raw peanuts in the shell!. and boil them in a great big pot of water with WAY MORE salt than anyone should ever use!. I use about a pound of salt for 3 gallons of water!. It is very hard for the salt to penetrate the shell, that is why you need so much!. Salt is the only seasoning you need!.
The nuts need to cook at a full boil a very long time to get tender!. I test them after 3 hours, then boil longer if needed!.

Put the peanuts in a large pot, cover with water, add 1/2 cup salt (use kosher salt, use less if using table salt), bring to a boil, cover and cook for 3 or 4 hours!. Check them by taking one out, open the shell and taste to see if it's soft yet!. If not, continue cooking and checking!. It could take 8 hours!.

Okay well if they are still in the shell (which they usually are) you can cook them until the shell is soft!. You do not need to add anything else but salt!. That is the only thing that tastes good on them, and it is always enough flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
