Question: Late-night, I put a pot of chicken stock outside to cool!. Then forgot to bring it in!. Can it be saved!? !?
It's a pot full of boiled chicken bones and food scraps and broth!. It's sat on my deck all night and all day!. It got up to 60 degrees today!. Can I strain it and put it at a hard boil for 20 minutes to kill any bacteria before freezing it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Does it smell or taste bad!? if not I'd give it a try!. as long as it was covered the whole time it was out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When in doubt, throw it out! Unless, of course, you don't mind the pain and displeasure of a bad case of food poisoning!. Boiling it will kill bacteria, but it will not get rid of the toxins that have already been produced and will make you sick!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

i wouldn't take the chance!. the boil will probably kill everything, but by the time you took it inside the chances of huge bacteria growth far weighs the cost of saving it!. don't take the chance of making your family ill!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I really wouldn't chance it - chicken carries a major salmonella risk, so you should just throw it out and make the stock again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hate to break it to you but it has to be thrown out :/!. The odor from the bacteria are going to cause the food to smell bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, throw it away!. Anything that reaches above 40 degrees starts growing bacteria!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hate to tell you, but it really would be best to toss it and start over!. Bummer!Www@FoodAQ@Com
