How much boxed pudding do I need to make to get...?!

Question: How much boxed pudding do I need to make to get!.!.!.!?
17!.5 oz!. of prepared pudding!? I am making a jello salad that calls for a 17!.5 ounce CAN of Thank You Brand lemon pudding!. The store doesn't have lemon so I figured I would get the Cook and Serve stuff in the box and cook some!. The large boxes of pudding are 4!.3 oz!. It seems like it would be way too much pudding if I made 4-5 large boxes of it!. What am I missing!? Is the 4!.3 ounces just what it is unprepared and when you add the milk and cook it, the ounces change!? If so, how do I figure out how much aI need!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Look at how many servings the box makes!. If it says 4 1/2 cup servings you will have 16 oz prepared pudding!. You would probably need 2 small boxes or 1 large one but you'll have some left over either way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The package weight is how much the dry pudding mix weighs!. Once you add in the milk and it cooks, then it will definately be much more!. One cup of milk is eight ounces, so if the box calls for 2 cups, then you will have approximately 20 oz, but it will cook down a little, so you should probably be right on track with one box!. : ) Www@FoodAQ@Com

if you're going to do it that way, all you need is one small box of pudding!. To the mix you have to add 2 cups of milk, which is 16 ozWww@FoodAQ@Com
