Answers:
there's a small aluminium based sheet under the bag, and it is covered with the kernels and some oil!. The aluminum helps make the oil heats really quickly, which in turn make the kernels pop!.
If you put it upside down, the aluminum shields the kernels and the oil from the microwaves, so they dont heat up much!.!.!. so no POP!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pop a bag of microwave popcorn the right way as the instructions tell you after you eat the popcorn tear the side of the bag that is the down side!. You will find out that it is made out of a metallic paper that will heat up thre 300°- 400 degrees and with the butter flavored oil helps pop corn if you boil a couple water in your microwave then put your popcorn and quickly you'll find corn Pops better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the answers about the metal strip are correct!. it is called the excitor!. And when you hit it with radiation in the form of microwaqve energy it releases heavy metal ions into your food!. Do you really want that!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Interesting to see the answers on this one!.!.!. I honestly just thought that they had you do it instruction side up so you would read the instructions lollWww@FoodAQ@Com
