Cold water 10 minutesWww@FoodAQ@Com
Note: water should cover the eggs by 1 inch, so use a tall pan, and limit cooking to 2 dozen eggs at a time!.
1!. Lay the eggs in the pan and add the amount of cold water specified!. Set over high heat and bring just to the boil; remove from heat, cover the pan, and let sit exactly 17 minutes!.
2!. When the time is up, transfer the eggs to the bowl of ice cubes and water!. Chill for 2 minutes while bringing the cooking water to the boil again!. (This 2 minute chilling shrinks the body of the egg from the shell!.)
3!. Transfer the eggs (6 at a time only) to the boiling water, bring to a boil again, and let boil for 10 seconds - this expands the shell from the egg!. Remove eggs, and place back into the ice water!.
Chilling the eggs promptly after each step prevents that dark line from forming, and if time allows, leave the eggs in the ice water after the last step for 15 to 20 minutes!. Chilled eggs are easier to peel, as well!.
The peeled eggs will keep perfectly in the refrigerator, submerged in water in an uncovered container, for 2 to 3 days!.

when I want a hard boiled egg I place the eggs in a pot just big enough to hold them and also it should allow enough room for the water to boil around the eggs!. I place the water from the tap in the pot and add some salt and white vinegar this helps keep the shell from breaking during the cooking time!. As soon as the water comes to a boil I turn off the heat and let the eggs sit in this water for 18 minutes!. Keep the cover on during the whole time!. Then remove from heat and drain all the water place the eggs in a bowl of ice cubes in cold water and let cool down!. Peel the eggs and continue with you recipe!. They always turn out great no dark around the white and yolk always bright yellow yolks!.

the perfect boiled egg!? barely cover with cold water and just bring the water to a boil!. Turn the burner off and let the eggs sit for 15 minutes!. Then dump the hot water and run cold water over the eggs!. Just roll them on your counter top with the palm of your hand and the shells peel off easily!
p!.s!.I set my stove top timer to 8 minutes so I don't forget them, and they are just coming to a boil! Nothing slower than waiting for water to boil!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's better to put the eggs in and let them gradually cook, for peeling purposes!. I usually put them in for about 20 min on medhi but every stove is different!. I never let them get to a rolling boil, just a low boil!.
You can boil them hard for 5 min though and they'll be done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I start with cold water, put eggs in water and when the water comes to a boil, let boil 1 minute and turn the heat off, let rest 12 minutes!. Perfect every time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I put them in when the water begins to boil!. If you do that, after 15 minutes they will be hard boiled!. Put them in gently with a spoon, and they mostly won't crack!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you use cold water it takes around 5-10 minutes!.
I always use boiling water!. The eggs split though and sometimes leak out so its not reccomended!.
