Rottie Mom is right on! I know a lot of people boil their ribs!. Some even stick them in the crock pot!. But, nothing delivers tender, succulent, flavorful ribs like slow cooking in the oven with low heat!. It's worth the time and effort!. You can finish them off on the grill if you want to, but it's not necessary!.
Terri's Beer Braised Country Style Pork Ribs:
3 lbs ribs!.
12 oz can of beer
2 large onions
quart of bq sauce
Brown ribs slightly in a skillet
Put in a baking pan!. Cover with onion slices!.
Pour beer over all!.
Cover all with foil or lid!.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes!.
Remove from oven
Pour off all the liquid (beer and fat)
Leave ribs and onions in baking dish
Pour BQ sauce over all!.
Bake uncovered for at least 40 minutes until the meat is
tender and sauce has thickened (reduced) some!.
* You can grill these for the last 15 minutes of cooking if you want to!.
* I make my own BQ sauce but you can use bottled!.
* This recipe works great with beef short ribs too!.
* I've made beef brisket this way too!. It's delicious!. Note: I'm talking about a plain beef brisket NOT CORNED BEEF Brisket!.

Don't bother boiling them - what a mess!. Just bake them low and slow because high heat will make them as tough as an old shoe and about as tasty, too!.
Find a shallow dish and spray it with release spray!. (Pam) Lay the ribs in the dish and season with salt & pepper or your favorite spice rub!. Turn and season the other side as well!. Cover tightly with a lid or foil and bake low and slow: 250F for 2 hours!. Remove foil and check the ribs: they will probably be swimming in juices!. Turn the ribs over, re-cover with foil and bake another hour!. Remove foil, drain off and discard any cooking juices and return ribs to pan!. Slather with your favorite barbecue sauce and bake another 30 minutes or until the sauce firms up!.

Other than BBQ!? This is an Italian peasant-type dish!. It's traditionally made with the pig parts other people toss, but my grandmother used spare ribs!.
First cut them into two rib sections!. Brown them with onion and garlic in a big Dutch oven or stock pot!. Then add a can of tomato paste and one of tomato sauce, and enough water to make a good amount of gravy!. Put in some cut up carrots (a lot of carrots at my house) and potatoes and let it start cooking!. After maybe an hour, add some cut up cabbage and cook some more with a lid on it!. My sisters and I gobble this up!. The kids all hate it, but that's probably because of the cabbage!. I think I'll make that this weekend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

season them with your favorite rub or spices!. wrap first in parchment paper (you can buy rolls of it at the supermarket), then in tin foil!.
cook low and slow - 325 for about 2-3 hours depending on the thickness of the meat!.
check after two hours - the parchment may be full of juices, so be careful, but give a little tug to the meat on a rib - if it seems to be tearing away easily, strap on a bib and dig in!. if there is some resistance, wrap back up and put back in the oven!.
