HOw do I make it into more a sauce?!
So, I am making homemade sauce, I chopped up my tomatoes, sauteed some garlic with them and garlic powder and such, now I still have the chunks and such in there, how can I make it more of a sauce!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
You can let it simmer!. Simmering it will let the natural flavors relase and break down the tomatoes, and you will have a nice deep sauce!.
Or you can use a food processor, blender, mixer to puree it also!.
Be careful if using these methods, hot liquids expand and the top wil blow off if you get it to full!. so just do small amounts at a time!.
Just be patient!.!. it will do it's magic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You have to cook them down some more, to boil off the excess water (juice)!. When they get softer, you can mash them with a potato masher to get more of a sauce-like consistency!.
A potato masher is a hand-held utensil with a flat serrated head on it that you use to mash potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use a potato masher or put it through a colander ( make sure you catch what goes through the holes in a bowl!. Mash the rest with a large spoon and then cook it long and slow or eat it with the chunks in- it's just as good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you have a food processor put it in that, if not maybe you can mash it with a potato masher or put it through a strainer!. You'll have a better idea after you simmer it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Why don't you just run it in the blender/food mixer for a few moments - but let it cool a little first and make sure you have the top covered with a cloth otherwise it may 'explode' a bit !Www@FoodAQ@Com
Emily J, it has to break down a little more, the best way is to simmer for a longer time with the lid on!.
