I Don't Know How Much This Turkey Weighs -- How Do I Thaw It Out?!

Question: I Don't Know How Much This Turkey Weighs -- How Do I Thaw It Out!?
Someone gave it to me!. It is frozen solid!. There is no weight listed on the packaging!. There is a tag that says, "2"!. I have no scale!. I'm guessing it's 10-15 pounds!. How long will it take to thaw out in the fridge!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
A turkey in that size range will thaw in your refrigerator in about three days!. Put it inside a plastic grocery bag in case that pinhole leaks liquid!.

Once it's thawed, open the plastic carefully and check out the area where the pin-hole was!. If it looks dried up, moldy, discolored, or otherwise different, cut it away before roasting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you had a bathroom scale, you could weight yourself!. Then pick up the turkey and weigh yourself again!. The difference is what the turkey weights!.

Without a scale, two to three days in the fridge should do it!. After the first day, remove the gizzards they put inside the turkey, to help it thaw a little faster!. Don't thaw it out of the fridge!.

Try to cook it as soon as it's soft all over!. I wouldn't worry about the pin hole, but if you're concerned and the hole is in the bird too, you could cut away the meat around it!.

The pinhole will not make any difference!.
Allow 24 hours per 5lb!.

If you want a more accurate way to measure the weight, stand on the bathroom scales holding the bird and note the weight!.
Put the bird down, check your weight and take that weight from the other!.
(its a good way to weigh items that can't fit on the scales or will not- cats, dogs etcWww@FoodAQ@Com
