Question: How long should I cook a hot dog for in boiling water!?
Answers:
until hot inside!. approx!. 5 min in boiling waterWww@FoodAQ@Com

I am a former chef and for certain brands of hotdogs I like them boiled or simmering, mostly the pork based one, for all beef types I prefer them in a pan and cooked on top of the stove, I have never been one for BBQ-ed or broiled!.

Here in Canada were I live we have 8-10 makers of anything from beef, pork, chicken, turkey and even tofu one, most are a combo of all 3 meats, I just bring them to the boil and turn off the heat and let them sit for 3-5 minute while I get the rest of the things ready, warm my buns (not literally) and the condiments, gives me time to cut the onions and open the sauerkraut!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe 2-3 minutes and make sure the skin do not cracks cause if they do, the whole flavor is out and is not that tasty anymore!.
After the water is boiling stay there will not take that long is more like to warm the "dogs" not to really boiled them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should not boil hotdogs, but if you must, it does not matter how long, they are already cooked!. If you must boil your dogs, do it in a beer bath like the Dodger Dogs at Dodger Stadium!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just a few mninutes as long as it isn't frozen!. You don't want it puffed and water logged!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
