While making tiramisu, what kind of liquor do you recommend?!

Question: While making tiramisu, what kind of liquor do you recommend!?
Now, I've done a lot of research so far and I've found out that Marsala wine is a very popular type of liquor to use in authentic tiramisu!. However, I've asked my parents about it and neither of them seem to have heard about it!. I'm wondering if Marsala is an expensive wine!.

If Marsala is going to be expensive/hard to find, what kind of liquor would you recommend I use!? I've heard of using sherry and maybe even Bailey's!. I'm nowhere near drinking age, so I really wouldn't know what to substitute, but I'd like to keep the recipe as authentic as possible!.

I'm also open to seeing some recipes if you have a good one to recommend!. Hah, this question is all over the place!.

Thanks bunches!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could use sherry!. If you want the flavour of alchol then use a flavoured coffee!.

alternatively you could use the hazelnut or butterscotch syrups that coffee houses put in their flavoured coffeesWww@FoodAQ@Com

you can use grand marnierWww@FoodAQ@Com

I recommend using Kahlua, it makes it taste sooo good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tiramisù is an interesting case, as there seem to be as many "authentic" recipes as there are stories of its origin!. Without digging very deeply, we have come across recipes for the potent Italian cake that call for rum, brandy, amaretto, Marsala wine, and one that contains no alcohol at all!. If you're bound and determined to use your recipe, you could toy with substituting watered-down cranberry juice or red grape juice for the Marsala!. Otherwise, you might like to try this non-alcoholic Tiramisù recipe from The Best of Bugiali (Canada, UK)!.

I've never made this dish I've only eaten it!. I would think any sweet wine would do -- madeira maybe!. And you can get Marsala that's not too expensive, $10-12!. Florio or Pellegrino makes it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
