Question: What is the purpose of chilling cookie dough!?
this is a question in our baking class!. we just baked chocolate crinkles!. our teacher ask this question to us!. help! please and thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

When the dough is not chilled, it will spread out a lot when baking!. Chilled dough keeps its shape better when baking!.

also, if these will be cut out cookies, the dough will be much easier to handle than if it is not chilled!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.it will stick to the board on which you roll it out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Makes it much easier to handle!.!.!.!.!.also when your ready to bake your next batch make sure the cookie sheet has cooled down before dropping the dough on it!.!.!.My brother in law who is a chef & baker told me never to put the dough on hot cookie sheet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it is so the dough won't be as sticky, when you go to roll it out!. Otherwise, you might be tempted to keep adding more flour so the rolling pin won't stick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

From what I've gathered over the years reading cookbooks and recipes on line, it makes the dough easier to handle when rolling and cutting, plus chilled dough holds it shape better during baking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
