I'm cooking a steak...?!


Question: I'm cooking a steak!.!.!.!?
If I sear steak on high and then cook it in the oven at 400 degree oven, how long to I leave it in so its medium!? It's a pretty thick fillet (1/2 pound)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

heat your pan and get it red hot before you sear the steak, liberally slap salt and pepper on the steak, give a little coating of peanut or canola oil, then sear it for 30 seconds a side and then move it to the oven!. Put the oven to 500 instead, give it 3 1/2 minutes a side for medium!.

broiling will NOT even approach the delicious "crust" melded from the salt, pepper and oil in those 60 seconds of searing!.

you can cook the entire thing in the pan, but moving it to the oven maintains the sear without blackening it and still cooks the insideWww@FoodAQ@Com

It would be much better if you just broiled it!.

Set the temperature to the highest setting and the bake/broil/off knob to broil (heat only from the top this way)

Set the broiler pan 4 inches from heat source!. Set timer for 15 minutes, turn and cook for another 10 minutes!.

this is for a filet about 1 1/2 inches thick to 2 inches thick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ooohhh i did the same all you have to do is keep it in the for about 8-9 minutes and check on it n put it back in for 3 more minutes and it will be done trust me it is so good my great grandmom taught me how to do thatWww@FoodAQ@Com
