Cookie Swap - How many dozen cookies are too much to ask people to bring?!
Our Brownie troop is having a cookie swap and each girl was asked to bring 11 dozen cookies!. We have 15 girls in our troop!. This has caused a huge headache from a lot of the parents!. We have since lowered the amount of cookies!. Was 11 dozen cookies too much to ask each girl to bring!? or Are parents going crazy over nothing!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think 11 dozen is entirely too many!. It would be kept to a decent amount!. Like maybe, 3 or 4 dozen per girl scout parent!. During the holidays, it is hectic enough , without having somehting extra to do!. I am sure there are other parents that dont' mind the 11 dozen but it would have been nice if everyone had discussed it prior to baking!. That way, everyone agrees!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Whoa! That's a lot of cookies -- and a lot of time mixing and baking!. If you average that it takes about 45 minutes (at least) to mix, bake, transfer to cooling rack, let cool completely and package 2 dozen cookies, I would say 4 dozen per girl would be adequate and wouldn't be so time consuming for them to bake!.
Believe me, I know -- it took me two days to bake 21 dozen that I plan to give away as gift baskets!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

From past experience (a few cookie swaps), it's customary to ask each guest to bring at least 3 cookies per guest!. That is, if my cookie recipe yields 36 and the guest count is 15, I would normally make two batches ( a total of 6 dozen) to cover any unexpected guests and to have some extra for home!. I have to side with the parents- 11 dozen is too much of a time constraint and expense for 15 girls PLUS the troop leader(s)!.
I can also tell you that my mother-in-law asked me to make one dozen homemade cookies for 25 of her co-workers for a X-Mas exchange party!. THAT IS: 300 cookies!. I love to bake and had free time, so I didn't mind so much that it took about 16 hours over the course of 2 days to mix, bake, decorate, and package them!. These busy parents might not have been so fortunate!. I can't blame them for being upset if they were!. It's alot of work!Www@FoodAQ@Com

11 dozen!?! Yes, sorry that is way too much to ask people to bring!.
I was thinking 2 dozen would be sufficient!. Parents will be helping or making themself and that is a lot when most parents have to work as well and provide dinner for their families at night!. I would have been upset too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Whoa! 11 dozen!. That is way too much!. You would have to be cooking all day to do that!. Mothers have enough stuff to do during their day already, and adding baking 11 dozen cookies to the list is over the top!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
That is an awful lot of cookies!. Try figuring out how many people will attend!. Everyone should get at least 1 cookie, remember, everyone else is bringing theirs to try as well!. Have people also bring their recipe to share!. Have funWww@FoodAQ@Com
That's far too much!. A more reasonable amount would be around 2 - 4 dozen cookies!. That's about 24 - 48 cookies right there, more than enough for all in attendance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Uh, yes! That is WAY too many! Usually cookie swaps work best with a smaller group, say, 6!. Then each person brings 6 dozen cookies, and swaps them out and takes home 6 dozen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Whoa, 11 dozen is too much to ask!. 2 dozen is the least amount, 3 dozen is pushing it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Who's the math major!? Sheesh!. Why would each little girl WANT to take home 132 cookies, let alone make them!? At our cookie swaps we usually do 1-3 dozen!. Even 4 dozen tends to get gripes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
that's way too many cookies! whew!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I wouldn't go over 4 dozen!. That's usually what home made cookie recipes make!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
