Answers:
Yes - never replace butter or margarine with a product like I can't Believe its not butter as it has water added!. Same with the low fat peanut butter - never use it for baking either!.

But you can substitute cube margarine like Bluebonnet or Imperial OR shortening - add a pinch of salt for real butter!. It should not affect how the cookies turn out at all - altho the buttery taste will not be there if you use the shortening!. They will still be very good though! :) People also sometimes substitute lard or strained bacon grease that has been chilled!. Really!.
Usually the margarines will say on their box - good for baking or some such thing!. Any of those whipped speads though will not work!. I eat I can't believe its not butter all the time and love it though! :)

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use the shortening!. It's much more unhealthy than butter or even lard, but will turn out MUCH better than lower fat margarine spreads!.

'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' has lower fat and a lot of water!. It won't work properly - it'll spread out too much, the sugar won't cream properly, and the texture won't be chewy and moist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as you use stick margarine and not the stuff that comes in a tub!. And it has to be margarine, not something labeled buttery tasting spread, so skip the "I can't believe it's not butter"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Margarine will make the cookies darker, crisper, and flatter after you bake them!. Butter (unsalted is best) will work better and give you richer flavor, but at least use stick-type margarine if you don't use butter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

honey, just use the real butter!. You could go with shortening, but it will change the flavor!. Worse yet, all that work going into something that may, or may not turn out, seems silly to meWww@FoodAQ@Com

Usually they flatten out too much w/ margerine!. I can't believe it's not butter doesn't even qualify as margerine, definitely not a suitable substitute!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can substitute!. no problem!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, it should be fineWww@FoodAQ@Com

Sure sounds good to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
