Do hams freeze well? The semi-boneless kind. ?!

Question: Do hams freeze well!? The semi-boneless kind!. !?
I have a chest freezer and want to take advantage of the holiday prices on hams!. It would be used/cooked within 6 months or so!. Can I freeze it in the packaging that comes from the grocery store!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
yes they freeze well!. Just make sure it has not already been frozen!. If the special price is for hams that have been previously frozen, then ask your butcher for one that is still in the frozen state, not thawed!. Refreezing any item causes it to lose moisture, and exposes it to air which causes frost bite or freezer burn!.

Any item frozen has a higher liklihood of developing freezer burn if it is already sliced, more surface space, so freeze whole or half hams, rather than spiral sliced ones if possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, they freeze well but don't leave them in the freezer too long because the high salt content keeps them a little warmer than other frozen meats!.

When you thaw a ham it can sometimes be rather watery (I've never had a dry one yet), but this can be fixed easily by putting it in a moderate oven for about 10 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you can, and they are great when you defrost, cook and serve!. I've done it before and they are very very good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
