Question about stuffed peppers?!

Question: Question about stuffed peppers!?
I want to make stuffed peppers for guests, and I found a recipe where all you have to do is brown ground beef with onions, add cooked rice and a jar of spaghetti sauce, fill them and cook them for 30 minutes at 350!. I want to get really big ones and cut them in half rather than have them sit straight up!. Would that be okay!? And when do I put the cheese on top!? Like when I put them in or right before I take them out!? Do you think most people like cheddar cheese or parmesan cheese on them!? I was thinking of using mozzarella because I really like it!. I made stuffed peppers about 10 years ago but I can't remember exactly how I did it!. Opinions appreciated, thanks in advance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love making stuffed peppers!. I always cut them in half like you said!.!.!.!. then when they're done I put the cheese on top and put them back in the oven just for a few minutes, until the cheese is melted!. I like mozzarella on mine, and my husband likes mozzarella and cheddar on his!.
Hope I helped!.

p!.s!. cabbage rolls are good too, you make them exactly like you do stuffed peppers but you use cabbage instead of peppers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would not use mozzarella because it is stringy!.

bake them, then add the cheese after they are fully cooked so you do not burn the cheese!.

you can make them like pepper boats if you like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure if slicing them lengthwise would matter if I'm understanding it correctly!. My aunt used to make them with bellpeppers sliced in half so it was like a little bowl!. The only thing I would worry about with a shallow pepper area is that the filling would cook or burn faster than the pepper!. Anyway, I would probably use a little Parmesan & Romano inside the mixture & also on top!. I wouldn't use any cheese that gets gooey or releases too much grease, I would want a crustier top!. I found this one which is not what you were thinking of using but it sounds SO good!.
