lol!. lesson 101!.!.wear gloves!.!.!.i did this and learned the very HARD way!. i had washed my hands too but i also touched my eye,!.which burned like hell for a while!.!.!.lol!.!. a mistake i wont make again anytime soon!. lol

but anyway!.!.yes huni buy cheap pack of gloves from dollar store usualy 5-6 pairs ina pack!.!.!.!.to cut and seed peppers from now on!.!.!.BUT if you dont have them or dont wana buy em!.!.!.!.you can use plastic baggies, just slip em on your hands or use even suran wrap just rip off to small pieces, big enough to hold the pepeprs and protect your fingers!.!.!.!.

if the seeds/oils an such get on your fingers i actually rubbed butter on my hands or put my hands in small dish of milk!.!.!.it cools the burn!.!.!.water seems to just barely take it away!.

but ya ive been there done that myself!. lol!.!.take care huni and be careful !.!.!.

Washing your hands is not really going to help, when pepper is on your hands it is on your hands!. NEVER touch your eyes, even hours after handling a pepper like a jalapeno, it will be terrible!.

Anyway, yes you would want to wear gloves, especially if you are removing the seeds by hand!. also try to get used to using a knife to remove the seeds, being skilled with a knife is one of the greatest things you can learn in the kitchen!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make Jalapeno Poppers all the time so I have the same problem after removing the seeds!. Here is what I do!.

Since its the oil in the jalapeno is what stays on your fingers and burns you have to use alcohol to get it off!. Oil is soluble in alcohol, not water!. I have alcohol wipes, you can use the stuff that girls use for earings, etc!. It works 99% better than water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wearing gloves is your best bet, but if you don't have any here is how I sometimes do it!.!.!.!.

Cut the stem end off and stick a paring knife in the middle using it to twist and scrape the seeds and the ribbing off!. Then I rnse the seeds out!. But then touching the pepper when slicing and chopping can lead to the same problems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, use gloves each time!. Or if you don't care about removing seeds, just chop w/ a knife, and use the knife to scrape chopped pepper into your dish (don't touch w/ bare hands)!.

Soak fingers in milk!. Milk cancels out the burn, on skin or in your mouth!. Yogurt, sour cream, and ice cream all work, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

soak in a bowl of milk for about 30 min!. the capsasian in the milk helps the burn even if you eat the hot then drink milk!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i never had no problem with my hands and the hot peppers!. Nor have I heard of anybody else having that problem!. You are suppose to wash your hands after since the oil could hurt your eyes but not your hands!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are supposed to wear gloves when you handle Jalapeno peppers because the juice/ seeds can burn you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That never happens to me!.!.!.so you must have extra sensitive skin!. Wear gloves when you handle any "hot" pepper, sure!. But not for bell peppers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

gloves work best!. I use them while canning peppers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

capsaisin is the hot stuff IN peppers, not milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i would use gloves next time!. LOLWww@FoodAQ@Com

i've never had a problem with jalapenos!. it's the little red chili peppers that get me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
