Why must frozen meat be thawed before cooking?!

Question: Why must frozen meat be thawed before cooking!?
Why can't you just place it directly from the freezer into the oven or frying pan!? As long as the middle gets up to a safe temperature, you should still be able to eat it, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Frozen meat won't cook evenly!. The outside can be burnt and the inside will still be cold!. also, if you're deep frying, oil will splatter more if the meat is frozen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everyone here has given correct Answers, because there are so many shapes, forms and varieties of meat!. It's true that a steak (like a nice New York strip) could be taken from the freezer and put directly onto a hot grill!. It's thin enough to warm through thoroughly, especially if you like your steak on the rare-to-medium side!.

But if you're dealing with a thick roast, or meat that has been ground, you have to thaw it before cooking!. Otherwise you run the risk of an undercooked (or completely raw) middle, and a burnt outside!. Not only is this unappealing to eat, but in the case of ground meat, it could also make you quite sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh yes you can eat it but who knows WHEN!? LOL, really the only meat that is ok to cook frozen is like ground beef, turkey or sausage that is going to be used in the recipe crumbled!.(Tacos, chili, spaghetti) or Chicken tenders that are prebreaded or something like that!.

The problem comes when you try to cook it at the temperature your recipe calls for it will take FOREVER and it will probably be tough on the outside and not quite right on the inside!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

my ex-mother-in-law swore by taking a roast straight from the freezer, seasoning it and cooking it at 325 F!. i'm not sure i'd use primerib but i agree with the ex's mother!. your cut of meat is the big deal!. there is an instrument that you can stick in the roast that'll tell you when the core is hot enough!. it's called a candy thermometer!. i often cook roasts on the barbecue and that opens a lot more doors to how you can flavour it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because when the water crystals hits heated oil, it spatters ans explodes everywhere in all directions!. This could cause a serious kitchen fire!. also if the food is going to cook properly, evenly on both side and all the way through to the middle, it needs to be thawed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Meat fish and poultry must be brought to room temperature before cooking or you will get FOOD POISONING!. You really dont want to spend christmas with your family in the ER!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

u can go directly from the freezer!. just did steaks on the grill the other night!. my wife told me she saw a cooking show where the chef ALWAYS cooks the meat straight from the freezer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

'Cuz the outside will be burnt and hard as rocks while the inside will be dry and tasteless!. Yo, we done tried it your way - and it sucks! Do it right or let someone else do your cooking!Www@FoodAQ@Com

because the outside will over cook before the inside is doneWww@FoodAQ@Com
