I would suggest you follow the directions!. I use the regular oatmeal, add hot tap water, slightly less than the recommended amount, then microwave on HALF POWER (5) for a few minutes!. I used to use milk, but found it to be better made with water, then I add milk when it's done!. You can tell when it's done!. Add some cinnamon and fruit and/or chopped almonds when serving!.!. that's all natural!. Be sure to use half power if microwaving!. On full power it bubbles up over the top of the bowl!. I use Splenda to sweeten!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
its oatmeal
First you must add milk then butter and sugar- about 5 tablespoons of sugar to bring the consistency to the right point where it isn't too watery or too concrete!. Next, Microwave for 2 minutes and whisk (stir)!. Then, put in for another two minutes and whisk again!. Now add 5 more tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of molasses to give it a more concrete consistency!. Now stir it very well and microwave it for 5 minutes!. This should bring the watery parts to fruition and make it more concrete and easier to eat and will also improve the flavor!.
Now it is ready to eat!. You can go a further step and make oatmeal muffins!. Roll the completed oatmeal into little balls and put them in the oven at 350F!. Let it sit for 20 minutes and they will be ready!. They require a longer cooking time than the average muffin because of the sugary consistency added and because of the milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you enjoy the flavor and consistency, then you are doing just fine!.
I don't care for the fuss of the boiling method that's printed on the box, but yes, that is the recommended method!. I microwave mine with milk in place of water for 3 minutes on high!. If too thick I add a splash more milk!.
It's your breakfast, so do whatever pleases *you*!.
Zynr's microwave must be more powerful than mine!. Yes, if boil-overs are a problem, reduce power and adjust the cooking time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
