Is Lasagne a fattening dish?!

Question: Is Lasagne a fattening dish!?
just wonderingWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes it is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

not if you make your own using low fat ingredients!

tomato sauce (2 soup-can sized cans or to your liking), make your own if you have time
12 lasagne noodles that have been half-cooked according to package directions (or buy the non cook type)
2 cups non-fat ricotta/cottage cheese and 2 beaten eggs
1/2lb raw spinach (washed, dried and chopped), prepackaged works well
1lb shredded non-fat mozzarella
1/2 cup non-fat parmesan or romano
optional:
dash nutmeg
2 tablespoonsful wheat germ (these 2 ingredients would be mixed in
with the non-fat ricotta/cottage cheese)

Directions:
Spread a little tomato sauce in the bottom of your 9x13 pan!.
Cover with 4 of the half-cooked lasagne noodles!.
Blotch with 1/2 of your filling mix (ricotta, spinach, any other vegies you may desire - I like mushrooms)
Top with 1/3 of remaining tomato sauce!.
Sprinkle on 1/2 of shredded mozzarella!.
Cover with another 4 noodles!.
Blotch on rest of filling!.
Top with another 1/3 of sauce!.
Sprinkle on remaining mozzarella!.
Cover with last 4 noodles, rest of tomato sauce and finish off with the parmesan/romano cheese!.
Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes!. Let stand for at least 10 minutes
before serving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on what's in it!.

If you use a heavy cheese like ricotta, that's got a lot of fat in it!. Instead, use a low fat cottage cheese!. My mom uses this and it still tastes good!. For the mozzarella you can use a low-fat brand!. Don't use the no-fat stuff - it just tastes like plastic!.

Noodles and tomato sauce aren't fattening!. If you want, puree some carrots and celery and add them to the sauce!. You won't be able to tell they're in there!.

You could also make a green lasagna which uses a white sauce and spinach as well as some other veggies!.

And remember, eat in moderation!. Even if the dish is "low fat", eating the whole pan in one sitting is never healthy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Only if you put lots of cheesy sauce!. It's really just bolognese sauce with pasta!. The cheese sauce is what makes it fattening!.

You could make a healthier version with low fat margarine and skim milk!. Add a little parmesan as it is strong in flavour so you use less!. A sprinkle a little bit of parmesan on top!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That would depend on what kind of lasagna you are wanting to eat!. Some are very much so fattening and other can be quite healthy!. The vegetable lasagnas are usually good for you!. It's the extra cheese and meat in the others that aren't so much!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you eat a lot of it, yes!. It is generally considered to be a high-calorie dish, though steps can be taken to reduce the caloric content!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
