Questions about cooking a turkey?!
I have a roughly 20 pound turkey that my bro got through work!. It's all thawed, ready to go!. No gibblets in it, is that normal!?
Anyway, I have a fairly limited array of spices, but used some garlic powder, summer sage, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce!. I put it in the oven at 2pm my time at 350!.
Should I add water to the bottom!?
If I'm cooking baby potatoes with it, when should I throw them in!?
When will it be done!?
Is that the right temp!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your turkey sounds good!. I only add salt to mine!. I would not add water to it, because it should have enough of its own broth!.
I would cook my potatoes separate
Your turkey should reach at least 180 degrees before it is done!.
If you want to keep the breast meat nice and juicy - put the breast side down!. It cooks in the broth and stays really yummy!.
Some turkey's have the giblets and some don't!. Your giblets are what you cook and chop up to put in your giblet gravy!. Usually the neck is in one end and the giblets in the other!. Gravy will be fine without them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

sure you can toss your veggies right in with it!.!.!.
and you can add any spices you want!.!.!.salt is always optional!.!.since from the juice//grease the turkey it self lets out its salty enough usualy!.
instead of adding water how bout a bit of broth!? wil help aid in flavor and gravy !.!.!.!. when its done you can add a touch of flour or cornstarch to the juice/broth and make it a bit thicker for the gravy!.
350 is a good temp, it should take about 3 hours but all ovens vary,!.!.!.keep turky covered while cooking too so it dont dry out!.!.!.check on it perodicly ( cut into the meaty part and if its still pink it will need more time, once its white its done)and baste it with the juices!.!.!.
uncover say like the last 15 minutes so the skin can crips a little and get golden!.
i make a wild rice on the side too with veggies its always good!.
Enjoy! :)

first, pull it out of the oven and using a pastry brush, brush oil or melted butter all over it, then sprinkle liberally with salt!. this will crisp up that skin!.
Second, I always add chicken broth or water to the pan, but, I always use just a breast, so there isn't a lot of juice that comes off it!.
Wait to add vegetables till about the last hour of baking
Remember to baste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hope you used salt and pepper, too!. Do you have a fresh lemon and/or onion!? Cut in half and shove inside the cavity for some great flavor and moisture!.
It should take around4 hours to roast at 350, which is a good temp!.When you can wiggle the legs in the sockets, it's done!. If you have twine, you may want to tie the legs together to help the whole thing roast evenly!.
The no giblets thing varies from producer to producer!. If I get them, I boil them and feed them to my dogs!. I don't want to eat them!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
