Why do peanut butter cookies almost always have the fork criss-cross pattern on them?!
I've always wondered why people fork this pattern into the top of peanut butter cookies, but no other kind of cookie!.

This "fork method" was traditionally used to flatten the cookie, stop it from expanding too high and to cook it evenly, also to mark the difference between the plain sugar cookies, both look somewhat the same after baking (back in the day)!. Interesting question, Merry Christmas to you and your family!Www@FoodAQ@Com
The cookie dough is placed as balls on the cookie sheet, then "forked" to flatten them!. It's tradition for the marks to be there and a sign of "homemade" cookies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
