Any great foods, that I can make for my family on Christmas?!
Answers:
I make a potato gratin every year that my family loves!. Matter of fact, I have been told that I am "required" to make this every Christmas or else I don't get any presents!. LOL!.
3 lbs!. russet potatoes
1 1/2 c!. creme fraiche (if you can't find this, use full fat sour cream)
6 oz!. gruyere cheese, grated
Salt & Pepper
Peel and slice the potatoes into thin slices (about 1/8 in!.)!. Preheat oven to 400 degrees!. Generously butter a 13x9 pyrex baking dish!. Place a layer of the potato slices in the bottom of the dish!. Sprinkle liberally with salt & pepper!. Top with half of the creme fraiche (stir first to loosen) and half of the cheese!. Then add the rest of the potato slices, repeat the salt, pepper, creme fraiche, and cheese!. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 and bake until the potatoes are fork tender & the top is golden brown (about 45 minutes)!. Check periodically to make sure the top is not over browning!. If it looks like it might, cover with aluminum foil!. Make sure you let this stand for at least 10 minutes before serving!. The rich creamy sauce is like lava when it first comes out of the oven, and it will thicken a bit after standing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
