I want to start cooking my own food, but I have never really cooked anything so I cant do anything that is too difficult!. I want it to be quite healthy or less fattening!. Please leave me some of your ideas, and maybe some links to websites with the recipes on!.

I am really picky with food, I barely like anything, but I'll try to give it a go!. I hate nuts though, so please no recipes with nuts in!.

We have a fan oven, if thats any help!.

also, i was wondering, is it healthier to eat crisps you bought from a shop, or crisps you made at home !?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is cheaper to make your own food and good for you!

Try to keep your staples stocked (i!.e!. onions, garlic, salt, pepper, garlic salt, canned veggies/tomatoes, oil, pasta, rice, chicken broth, etc!.) and all you would need to do is get what ever meat you would like to make your meal complete!. Dice some onions and garlic, put some oil in your pan, add the onions and garlic, add your meat, and cook until done!. Follow the directions on the package of rice or pasta, for one side, and dump your canned veggies in a dish and pop it in the microwave, for your second side!. Voila! There is dinner! And you can mix it up how ever you want!. Even substitute the pasta or rice for potatoes!

Spaghetti is a real popular easy dish new cooks can make! Here's a really simple trick I do to make it taste more "authentic"!. Instead of ground beef or turkey, I use a package of bulk italian sausage ,for the "ground beef" part, and a package of italian sausage links and cut them up for the "meatball" part!. To eliminate too many pans, I first start off by browning the "meatballs" over medium heat with the lid over it from time to time so they will steam and cook all the way through; and after they are done dump them in a bowl!. Then I use the same pan and brown the bulk italian sausage!. I would drain the fat after you brown the meat because your sauce will be greasy!. After I drain it, I put what ever spaghetti sauce I have picked up from the market that day and dump that in!. Now my family likes mushrooms, so at this point I add fresh mushrooms and put the heat to low until the pasta is done! That's it! And we like cheese garlic bread with our spaghetti, and I usually pick that up from the frozen food department of our market!. So easy! And the italian sausage makes a HUGE difference!

The good thing about cooking is that you can change it to whatever you like! How you like it! You don't like an ingredient!? Use something else!.!.!. or don't use it! Leave it out!

Have fun!

I am from California, USA, and I am not too sure what "crisps" are!? Is it a European food!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

One of the best cookery writers for beginners is Delia Smith!. In fact she wrote a cookery book that told you how to boil an egg plus other recipes obviously!. Gary Rhodes said it was patronising, but a lot of young people today don't know how to cook because it is not taught in schools and parents don't cook because of time issues or don't know themselves!.

Start with things you like and are simple to do!. Master these and you'll be always able to put a meal on the table!.
