Help in cooking boneless round roast?!
I have a roast in the oven right now!. The directions on the roast said to season, cook uncovered for 30 min at 400F and then add 1 cup water and turn the heat down to 275 cooking for 30 min per lb!.
so i deviated a bit!. i put BBQ sauce all over it (hickory bbq roast sounds really tasty)!. it is currently in the oven at 400F and i am planning to baste bbq sauce over it every 20-30 min!. will that keep it moist enough!? should i cover it!? should i add the cup of water to the pan!? my mom suggested the water and butter in the bottom of the pan and then pouring it over the roast every once in a while and then put the bbq sauce on it at the end!.
any good sugestions to make it a moist, hickory roast!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

there will need to be some liquid in it to make it moist!. If you are not going to put a little water in it, at least wrap it in heavy foil to lock in the steam!. that will help some!. I suggest a cup of water in the bottom of the pan and occasionally baste it with the bbq and water mixture!.
The bbq sauce by itself will do nothing to make the roast moist!. its for flavor only so you could wait to the end before you put it on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Turn the temperature down to 275F!. Low and slow is the best way to cook a tough cut of meat like round roast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
