I'm not sure if they are the same!.!.!.but they are both saturated fats!.!.!.which means, the not good for you kind!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cream Cheese and Butter are both made from Milk!. Milk contains fat - so yes, the fat in Cream Cheese and butter are the same, it is called Milk Fat!.

However -the amount of fat in Cream Cheese will vary a little between brands and of course there are versions of cream cheese with reduced fat or non-fat!.

Butter, however is 100% fat!. Anything less and it would not be butter, it would be a margarine with some butter blended in!. There is no such thing as reduced fat butter!. ( i know you didn't ask that, but just say'n!.)

Many years ago, a brand of Cream Cheese advertised that it had half the calories of butter!. Which ounce for ounce may be true, but on the other hand - no one puts a half inch of butter on the bagel in the morning - they use much more cream cheese than butter for things like toast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are both milk fat, if that's what you mean!. And no, unless you are using NON-fat cream cheese, it has a higher fat content than milk!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Read the nurtition info on each box!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No cream cheese has much less fat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
