How do you get homemade ice cream to harden?!

Question: How do you get homemade ice cream to harden!?
My daughter and her friend used an ice cream maker to make ice cream for a school project!. Several hours later, the ice cream - which is in a chilled metal container in the freezer - is still a drippy mess!. Do you have any ideas to help it harden up in the next few hours!? Thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Something must have went wrong with the recipe, or it just didn't get beat enough!. Did the machine stop on it's own!? Did you add lots of salt to the ice in layers!? There are several reasons why it might not have hardened, but if it's not getting hard in your freezer, it makes me think something was mismeasured!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try cranking it in the mixer for awhile longer!. We use to make homemade ice cream for my b-day when I was kid and it always took a long time to get it thick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
