Any cake baking tips?!


Question: Any cake baking tips!?
I want my cakes and other baked goods to be thicker and more moist!? Are there any tips!? I just made one from a box right now and it tasted really gross so!.!. yeah, I'm going to try harder now than just box crap!. I really like baking and I'd definitely like to get better than that!.

A woman I worked with always made the best cakes from a boxed mix, but they tasted like homemade!. She said she always added an extra egg and used buttermilk instead of the water called for on the box!. You might give it a try!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Have you tried the pudding cake box mixes!? I prefer making them from scratch with Hershey's chocolate and have many recipes!. Go to the sites listed below!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Add extra oil into your mixture this will make it moist!.

About the frosting, you could use a vienna cream butter and icing sugar, foodcolour ~ great for kids cakes colours!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Bake cakes from scratch!. They always taste better and they aren't that difficult to bake!.

Best Chocolate Cake with Fudge Frosting
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
? cup shortening
? cup water
? cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
? teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
Fudge Frosting, (recipe follows)
FUDGE FROSTING
2 cups sugar
? cup shortening
? cup milk
? teaspoon salt
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 teaspoons vanilla
Heat oven to 350∫!. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13 ? 9 ? 2 inches, 3
round pans, 8 ? 1 1/2 inches, or 2 round pans, 9 ? 1/2 inches!. Beat all
ingredients except Fudge Frosting in large bowl on low speed 30 seconds,
scraping bowl constantly!. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl
occasionally!. Pour into pan(s)!.

Bake rectangular pan 40 to 45 minutes, round pans 30 to 35 minutes or
until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean!. Cool rounds 10
minutes; remove from pans!.

Cool completely!. Prepare Fudge Frosting; frost cake!. (Fill layers with 1/3
cup frosting; frost side and top with remaining frosting!.)

FUDGE FROSTING:

Mix all ingredients except vanilla in 2 1/2-quart saucepan!. Heat to
rolling boil, stirring occasionally!. Boil 1 minute without stirring!. Place
saucepan in bowl of ice and water!. Beat until frosting is smooth and of
spreading consistency; stir in vanilla!.

Milk Chocolate Cake
1 ? cups cake flour
1 ? cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder

? cup cocoa

? cup evaporated milk
? cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F!. Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake
pans!.

Combine cake flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cocoa in a large mixing
bowl!. Add shortening and milk and a little bit of the water!. Beat 2
minutes!. Add remaining water and eggs!. then beat 2 minutes more!.

Pour cake batter into prepared cake pans!. Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until
cake tests done!. Let cake cool in pan 10 minutes before turning out onto a
wire cooling rack to cool!.

Frost cake layers after they have cooled!.

Moist and Tender Chocolate Cake
2 cups flour
