I used to live with an Indonesian guy, he only used to wash his wok about once every month or two, and everytime he cooked in it he used the same oil or just kept adding more!. He said it added flavour to the food!. I just thought it was gross, but the food did taste extra yummy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Great question!
The answer is you should not 'wash' the wok because each use 'seasons' the wok!. Instead, you should rinse under running water while using a bamboo brush!. You will be amazed at how clean the bamboo brush cleans out a wok without removing the 'seasoned' (darkened) part!. Scouring pads are a no-no!.

It's not necessary to wash your wok!. Clean it yes, but wash it with soap, no!. This ruins the season on it!. This site site should help explain things better than I can!. If you've ever gone to a Chinese take-out you'll notice that after cooking your meal they will put some water in the wok and swish around a steelwool pad, dump and rinse and then ready to go for the next one!.
