If a recipe calls for [equal parts] eggs and oil, can mayonnaise be used instead?!

Question: If a recipe calls for [equal parts] eggs and oil, can mayonnaise be used instead!?
I've always wondered this!. Since most mayonnaise's are made with just eggs and oil [well except for the specific one I buy - which is made with soy and eggs]!. So would this work!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some recipes it can!. Like cornbread would probably be OK, but not cake!. Mayo also has dijon mustard in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've had foods cooked with mayonaise and they were terrible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am gonna go with yes!. It might taste a little different but close enough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
