I hard boiled my eggs in soapy water. Will this affect them?!
I hard-boiled some eggs today in a pot of water, but I guess there was soap in the pot or the water (I used a pot of water my boyfriend left sitting on the stove - I assumed it had been used to heat up TastyBites) because lots of little bubbles formed on the surface of the water!. Clingy, soap-like bubbles, not water-about-to-boil bubbles!.
I am pretty much gonna end up with soapy eggs now, yes!? I am using them for a recipe where I need whole halves of the eggs, and I only have 3 eggs, so if I take a bite of one to check it I won't have enough egg halves!. Does anyone know how porous egg shells are!? Has anyone ever done this before!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

i think you are safe , i pickle eggs after they are boiled and in the sheel i pickle them in jalepenos and cayenne peppers and vinegar it takes about a week before the flavors absorb , , the misnicule amount of soap that may or may not have absorbed wouldnt hurt you , , my wife doesnt ever rinse the dishes to my satisfaction and i at times have a soapy flavored omelette , , its never made me sick except for in the head maybe , but hey thats for a different board ,

No, eggs do not absorb soap through their shells!. If that were the case, then every colored Easter egg would be colored on the inside as well!. Logic, people, please try to use logic!. Your eggs should be fine, but rinse them well before you crack them open!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Egg shells are extremely porous, and if soap was in the pot, then they probally absorbed the flavor!. If you actually saw soap bubbles, then that means that there was probally a good amount of soap in it, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think the best thing to do is taste a little bit of the egg!. There is really no way to know how porous the egg is and how much soap was used!. It might be alright and not taste much different!.
But you might get a tummy ache or the sort!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat them!. They will probably taste like soap, and therefore have soap in them!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I doubt it!. But just tast them first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If there was soap in the water it would have boiled over, and egg if they crack will produce a soapy like foam on the water, and egg shells will not absorb the flavour, smell the water, or taste it, if it has a soapy flavour, just rinse the eggs, I am a former chef and I have made many a hard cooked egg, and if they foam it does not mean it is soap, and why would you BF leave a pot of soapy water on the stove, ask him, sometimes during boiling the eggs will crack and then this will happen, boiling soapy water will produce more than a few bubbles!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
